It’s Christmas – The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Christmas is a magical time. For many, it's a season of frantic shopping for the latest, the smartest, the best presents. For others, it’s a time to slow down, reconnect, and spend quality moments with loved ones.
Growing up, Christmas in my family was about coming together to share meals, watch TV and exchange gifts. I understand the frenzies that come with it. It’s easy to get caught up in the competition - whether it’s trying to outdo your aunt with the perfect gift or dreading the visit of that one family member you only see once a year.
For years, Christmas felt like just another break - time off from school or work, where we gathered to put on a show of perfect lives and perfect families. Perhaps I misunderstood, since I was just a kid, but it often felt like the season was about appearances more than anything else.
Then, at 16, everything changed. A girl raised as an atheist came to realize that God is real, and her life was transformed. Suddenly, Christmas took on a whole new meaning. I understood that Christmas is not about presents or perfection - it’s about the birth of a little Jewish baby born over 2,000 years ago, born to save the world. That baby, rejected by many, was the perfect gift from God to all who believe.
Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
The true gift of Christmas is grace. It’s a gift that’s available to everyone - regardless of past mistakes, background, or status. Your past doesn't define you. Your background doesn't hold you back. Your status doesn't give you an advantage. Each of us faces the same choice: to accept or reject God's gift.
Choosing to accept that gift means choosing a future of grace, peace, and love - here on earth and beyond. Rejecting it, on the other hand, leads to a life of false control and an eternal separation from the goodness God offers.
This Christmas, I hope you will choose to accept His gift - the gift of love, peace, and a future that extends far beyond this life.
Love,
